Professional Bank Lakewood will host a book signing of Heroes are Hard to Find, written by Dallasite Mike Looney with cover art illustrated by former Dallas Cowboys star Charlie Waters. Both gentlemen will be present at the event.

The event will include a raffle for a signed reproduction of the book's cover art. Proceeds from book sales and the raffle will benefit the family of Lakewood resident David Cunniff, who on July 25th took his daughters to a concert in Deep Ellum where he was attacked and badly beaten. Today, the 44 year old man remains paralyzed in Baylor Hospital without medical insurance.

Professional Bank President Mark Smith says, "our bank is proud to be one of the many businesses that can join in to help the Cunniff family. The groundswell of support for this family exhibited in our community has been amazing and a credit to the spirit of Lakewood."

Looney's highly acclaimed book is set in East Dallas at Woodrow Wilson High School. The story is about Stormy Weathers, an aging professional baseball player who magically returns to his old high school and joins the team to continue his playing career. It has been said by critics that the book is more about life than about sports, full of character lessons and values.

The cover art was inspired by the famous on-deck shot from the '57 Yankee season of 'The Mick' awaiting his turn at bat, kneeling near but not inside the on-deck circle. Charlie Waters says, “I attempted to combine the boyish frivolity inherent with baseball, the beauty of God's earth and the threat of evil temptation. The signed, framed picture will be on display in the Professional Bank lobby.
